Q1: What is the Digital DECATHLON?

Answer: The Digital DECATHLON is an interdisciplinary and intercultural competition for students in architecture, civil engineering, building services engineering, and related fields. Its goal is to teach digital design skills using Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools and methods.

Q2: When does the Digital DECATHLON take place?

Answer: The digital DECATHLON is a project that extends over an entire semester. The first time in the winter semester 2023/24, a second time in the winter semester 2024/25. It begins with a meeting of participants at a common location and concludes with a second event where the results are presented.

Q3: Which subjects or disciplines are covered in the Digital DECATHLON?

Answer: The competition covers ten different disciplines, including architecture, construction, MEP, model checking, BIM design coordination and communication, construction scheduling, life cycle assessment, simulation, building product traceability, and reporting.

Q4: Who can participate in the Digital DECATHLON?

Answer: Participation is open to students in architecture, civil engineering, building services engineering, and related fields from various European countries. The project promotes diversity and intercultural exchange.

Q5: How do participants collaborate with each other?

Answer: Collaboration starts with an in-person meeting of participants at a common location. Afterward, students utilize a specially developed virtual working platform to continue their projects in international teams. Teachers and trainers are available for support.

Answer: Yes, learning modules are provided, tailored to the individual needs of participants. These modules support self-directed learning and help students deepen their skills in digital design tools and BIM.
